BIG BLUE OCTOPUS VS. THE MONSTER MASH
The Monster Mash has long stood as one of the great American triumphs. Check out these fresh lyrics…
From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes
Oh hell yeah! Now that’s poetry. It rhymes and everything. But behind these great lyrics lie a permanent and radiating truth molded to the tumultuous history of our great nation. Boris Pickett released this poetic hymn in 1962 in an album called The Original Monster Mash, which was filled with monster themed tunes. Not only was Boris suffering from a failed acting career and an intense case of erectile dysfunction, but he also was caught up in the hysteria of the Communist Red Scare. The sub-human monsters portrayed in the song, not surprisingly from castles in the east, must feast upon the dancing souls of hard working humble ghouls, which was a slang word in the 1960s for blue-collar flower salesmen Italian Americans. Being widely known as attractive and having floral aromas and glands, these ghouls became an infatuation for Boris, who, naturally, wanted nothing more then to obtain one final erection and jolt his electrodes onto any one of these aforementioned blue-collar flower salesmen Italian Americans before the ensuing Communist takeover.
Let us all celebrate the great history of The Monster Mash and Halloween at…
